The Wisconsin Lions Foundation can put your deer hides (and tails) to good use. All proceeds generated by the hides and tails goes straight to the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt.
Members of the Plymouth Lions Club painstakingly prepare each hide by hand prior to the delivery of all of the hides later in Winter. This includes thawing frozen hides, salting the hides to preserve them, stacking and storing the hides, and transporting the hides to Camp.
In 2018 (only our second year), the Plymouth Lions Club processed and delivered over 450 hides and 280 tails which generated more than $2,000. That’s equivalent to sending 3 people to camp – all expenses paid!
Hides should be folded and rolled and placed in plastic bags or cardboard boxes to prevent them from drying out and becoming stiff.
If you questions about your hide donation, please contact Jeff at 920-579-5680 or Terry at (920) 838-0850.
This quality camping experience is provided free-of-charge to eligible children and adults with disabilities from Wisconsin. The Camp serves children and adults who are blind or visually impaired, Deaf or Hard of Hearing, children with intellectual disabilities or educational autism and children with diabetes.
A chance remark, “Blind kids can’t go to outdoor camps and stuff like that…” started it all in 1955, and in 1956, the Lions Clubs of the State of Wisconsin founded the Wisconsin Lions Camp and the Wisconsin Lions Foundation, Inc. to administer the Camp program. From that humble beginning with 26 campers, the Wisconsin Lions Camp now proudly to serves over 1,300 campers a summer.
