Lions Park – One of the Gems of Plymouth

Lions Park in Plymouth, WI was built in 1992 and is considered a jewel of a baseball park for youth in our community and the surrounding area. Not only is it located in a beautiful setting on the southeast side of the city, but its grass infield and outfield, sand diamond, batting cages, dugout and bullpen areas combine to make it a special place to learn the game of baseball for our future stars. For spectators, the park features covered bleacher areas on the main (Ozzie Pick) field, and a concession stand with a covered area for ordering and dining. For nearly 20 years, the park was lovingly maintained by one or more members of Plymouth Lions Club, who funded the original construction as well as ongoing maintenance. Today, maintenance of the park is the primary responsibility of the Plymouth Youth Athletic Association (PYAA), which maintains it today. However, Lions Club continues to watch over and contribute to some aspect of the park due to our sense of responsibility for it and as an honoring of our past members whose efforts created this mecca for youth baseball.

As the park has aged, the original log facade of the stands and concession building has deteriorated and is in dire need of replacement. The concession stand and bathrooms also require new countertops and fixtures. Lions Club has taken the lead, along with the PYAA, to plan, seek bids, and work with the city to enact an upgrade for the park. Early estimates put the upgrade cost at around $250,000. That amount will be beyond the means of our club alone, and therefore we are seeking funding from other interested donors to help us restore the shine on this community jewel. It’s not too soon to help with your TAX DECUCTIBLE contribution to the “Plymouth Lions Foundation”, a 501(c)(3) organization.
