Plymouth Lions Club History
1964
The Plymouth Lions Club organized with 19 charter members, becoming Wisconsin’s 299th club. Today there are 589 Lions Clubs in Wisconsin with 21,700 members serving.
The Plymouth Lions Club remains one of the largest and most active clubs in the region, with 65 active members.
In 2017 Lions across the world will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Lions Club International.





1917
The Lions Club International was founded by Melvin Jones in Chicago, Illinois. Today it is the largest service organization in the world, with over 1.4 million members serving with approximately 46,000 local clubs in 210 countries.

1954
The Lions motto “We Serve” was adopted at the 1954 International Convention, chosen from more than 6,000 suggestions.
The Emblem
Symbolically, the lions face both past and future – proud of the past and confident in the future.
The Colors
Purple: Stands for loyalty to country, friends, one’s self and the integrity of mind and heart. It is the traditional color of strength, courage and tireless dedication to a cause.
Gold: Symbolizes sincerity of purpose, liberality in judgement, purity in life and generosity in mind, heart and purpose toward humanity.
